I’m Darlene Green, Comptroller for the City of St. Louis, and candidate for re-election in the Democratic Primary Tuesday March 7th. The Comptroller is the chief fiscal officer of the City and charged with safeguarding the city's credit rating and protecting taxpayer dollars.
While many big cities are in financial decline, I’m proud to have made St. Louis a model of fiscal stability. That in turn has helped make us an attractive place for the private investment and growth. I want to continue using the best fiscal practices and be a watchdog of your city tax dollars. Since taking office I’ve helped save taxpayers $100 million through debt refinancing and protecting our A+ bond rating (reaffirmed by S&P in October 2016).
I’ve fought for good projects like the $1.7 Billion NGA Headquarters, but have opposed those I felt didn’t make economic sense for taxpayers. With the election of a new Mayor, it’s important to have someone with the institutional knowledge to keep St. Louis moving forward. I am also the only candidate in the race with financial experience the job demands. I respectfully ask for your vote of confidence and please e-mail for call if you would like a yard sign or have an issue you would like me to address. Thank you!
